Glamping Green Istria – House EggLady
Description
Glamping Green Istria – House EggLady is one of the independent stone houses that are part of the tourist accommodation facility called Green Istria – Houses of Slovenian Istria. It is located in the village of Truške, which is 13 km away from Koper.
Green Istria – Houses of Slovenian Istria consists of three individual houses surrounded by vineyards, along with a separate building that includes rooms and apartments. In total, the tourist accommodation facility has 11 units.
Egglady features two single beds that are combined into a double bed. It is suitable for accommodating two people. In front of the house, there are tables, chairs, loungers, and hammocks. It is furnished with original furniture from the late 19th century to the World War II era.
In front of the houses, there is an orchard dominated by figs, cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, olives, and Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary, laurel, basil, sage, and various vegetables.
As part of the stay, guests can also reserve an Istrian style breakfast, which is served in the common areas.
The houses, with a typical Istrian architecture, are dedicated to Šavrnikas, our grandmothers and great grandmothers who used to transport local delicacies to Koper or Trieste using donkeys and sell the products door-to-door. They were named after the types of products they sold. Milklady primarily sold milk and milk related products like cheese and cottage cheese, Egglady sold eggs, and Breadlady sold bread. Each house presents the story of Šavrnikas and a brief historical description of Slovenian Istria.
The uniqueness of the houses is that they do not have water or electricity inside. Guests are provided with lamps upon arrival. The shared bathrooms are located 30 m away from the houses. A barbecue grill is also available for guests. Access to electricity and WI-FI is available in the common areas.
In 2011, Green Istria – Houses of Slovenian Istria received the “Snovalec” award for the most innovative idea in tourism under the auspices of the Slovenian Tourist Board. In 2017, the houses received the Travelife certificate for sustainable friendly accommodation. They are also part of the Slovenian tourism’s “Green Scheme.”
